April is National Jazz Month Time Out Market in collaboration with Jazz nonprofit Gotham Yardbird Sanctuary ( curator of Brooklyn’s own Ornithology Jazz Club ) will have a special Jazz performance series “Tenor Madness” to bring young lions on iconic Jazz instrument Tenor Saxophone from NYC’s vibrant Jazz club scene during our Bottomless Brunch (12-3pm) Sunday April 23rd: ASAF YURIA @Asafyruia Born in Tel Aviv, Israel 1985, Asaf Yuria began playing the Saxophone at the age of 9, and was raised on the recordings of John Coltrane and Charlie Parker. By the time he was in high school, he’d advanced to play alongside some of the finest musicians in the close-knit jazz scene of Tel-Aviv. In 2007 he moved to New york City, spending thirteen successful years playing in jazz clubs such as Smalls, Mezzrow, Smoke, Iridium – to name a few. During those years, Yuria also studied at the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music. There, he came under the influence of close mentor Billy Harper, as well as the likes of George Cables, Reggie Workman, Billy Hart and Charles Tolliver. More recently, Yuria has been a key part of world-renowned bassist Omer Avital’s quintet for the past five years, performing in music festivals around the world.
